Flu safe 2016/17

Each year the NHS prepares for the unpredictability of flu. For most healthy people, flu is an unpleasant but usually self-limiting disease with recovery generally within a week.

However, older people, the very young, pregnant women and those with underlying disease, particularly chronic respiratory or cardiac disease, or those who are immunosuppressed (Cannot fight off certain germs), are at particular risk of severe illness if they catch flu.

This year, two and three-year-old children are being offered a nasal flu vaccine to protect against influenza.

You will receive a letter from your G.P if you are in the categories above or if you are worried about flu then  please speak with your G.P or other health professional.
