More spilling has taken place during 2013 and 2014 to protect the footpath that runs along the Lumley Park Burn, completed by volunteers from The Bournmoor Conservation Group. Work has also continued down stream to improve spawning areas by restricting the flow of the Burn to a narrower passage with the use of logs and Birch bundles to collect the silt when greater flows are in motion. Most of this work was done by Northumbrian Water volunteers and the Wear Rivers Trust with a little help from BCG.
