Minutes of the Bournmoor Conservation Group Meeting held on the 31st of January 2007. Present; Paul Griffin (Treasurer), Ken Clark (Secretary), Martin Garrett, Bill Waistell, Jacqueline Mcpake, Peter Holland, Mike Bell and Stephanie, Herbert Mears, Louise and Daisy. Apologies; Ian Linsley, Miriam Oliver and Sarah Hamilton. In the absence of the Chairman Martin chaired the meeting. The minutes were accepted as a true record and signed by the chairman. Matters arising; If anyone thought of any work that might be suitable for the Lenghtsman they should contact Paul Griffin, Clerk to the Parish Council. Bird feeders for the schools it is hoped that Ian would liaison with Bournmoor and Geoff with Woodlea. Paul had a market for Blackthorn if they could be lifted and bagged, £1 each. Footpath no.5 was still in need of clearance, Kevin Telford would be informed. Willow spiling of the Burn was explained to our newest members. Reports; The balance of the account stands at £1204.59 Two more Bee Hives would be installed near to the original hive, members were requested not to disturb the hive, and protective suits had been bought so that members could be supervised in learning more about bee keeping. Honey was hoped to be for sale later in the year. The Group had been invited to put on a display at the Community Activity day organised for March 17th in and around the Church Hall. Willow skills could be demonstrated and possible Bird boxes made, if anyone would like to help out please contact Ken. A meeting is to be held on Tuesday February 6th, to wind-up the Villagers association, funds distribution would be discussed. A.O.B. Our two new young environmentalists were welcomed to the meeting and a request for timber to build a tree house was put forward. More involvement with the schools would be required as to what level of help could be offered. Louise was asked to contact Mrs Williams at the next governors meeting. Reference was made to a `Camp` in the old bowling green, the Beat officer had been made aware of this. Suggestion was put forward regarding the tiding up of the Church Corner after gas work had been completed, possibly be the Village Linesman. Jacqueline gave a report of the water spillage behind the old fire station and reported that Mine water into the Lumley Burn was to only be allowed during the night. This was hoped to cease when the gravity feed at Chatershaugh was improved. Herbert suggested that pot holes around St. Barnabas estate could be filled in by the linesman, this would be passed onto County Hall. Paul voiced his concern about semi-composted tipping on the old landfill site near Lumley Thicks , and with regards to the proposed Willow planting that would inevitable break the clay cap over the Landfill. Meeting closed at 8-20pm Next meeting of the Bournmoor Conservation Group will be held on Wednesday 28th of February 2007 in the Communal Hall, Lambourne Close. 7pm.
