Houghton Gate Entrance Feature
27 November 2006
Residents were recently surveyed at Houghton Gate to determine how they felt about a proposed new village entrance feature near their homes. It is suggested that the feature is to be constructed from historic bricks once made in the area. The residents carried out a comprehensive analysis of their opinions and arrived at a majority in favour of some kind of seat, with integral planter and village name sign of a blue and gold type. This would be situated on the triangular grassed area on the North side of the A1052 at the junction with the A183. The feature would be set back at the tree line to avoid highways regulations about traffic hazards. The survey will go before the Council at the next meeting, which will be held in January. Results from this meeting will be reported back to the Houghton Gate residents.
