Jacqueline was welcomed to her first meeting and introduced to the members. She explained her roll in the Environment Agency as being particularly concerned with water pollution. She is a local lass and now lives in The Meadows. Jacqueline handed out leaflets and free wildflower seeds to members. Gerry Jones from Durham County Council introduced himself to the meeting and advised members that he was responsible for the operations of the Highway worker who is partially funded by the Parish Council and D.C.C. It is hoped that we can work in partnership with the worker who is contracted to do two days work a week in the parish. Gerry was thanked for his attendance by the Chairman, and then left the meeting. Matters arising The Industrial Heritage project needed to be defined, it is hoped that Paul will undergo the Natural Heritage, Brian Chater to do the Social Heritage and the Industrial Heritage to be a joint effort of everyone else. Brian would be contacted by Paul to define the Social Heritage. It was unknown if Jim Cokill had been in contact with Paul regarding the grant for Bird feed. Russell had inspected the Grant Funded hedge near the turning circle at New Lambton and was disappointed to see it struggling, it is hoped that it may regenerate itself in the spring. Judith Prike sent a letter of thanks to the group for its support in the successful outcome of D.C.C. agreeing to the removal of the new sign that had been erected at Houghton Gate. Dates were discussed for the Christmas Meal at the Dunn Cow; the date is now set for the 12th of December which is a Tuesday evening 7pm for 7-30pm. Peter Holland has again received daffodil bulbs from Chester District Council; he hopes to have them planted soon. Various discussions took place involving our future projects in and around Lumley Burn Park. Peter offered to show Jacqueline the work that we have achieved over the past years, at Lumley Burn Park. A date for the placement of the bird boxes would be on Saturday 28th of October. Meeting closed 8-20pm.
