Bees are back
17 June 2009

Following a disasterous summer last year the queen produced thousands of workers but they had to work all out to get enough nectar and pollen just to stay alive.  As with many other colonies ours died out in the winter, there was some honey still in the hive but pollen and any sign of worker bees was absent.

I cleaned everything down and put good wax, left honey stores in place and used a commercial pheremone to lure a swarm into the hive.  IT WORKED!!!  Now we have a good sized swarm safely housed and working once more to boost biodiversity in our area.  Well done the bees.
