Match Report v Broadheath Central
17 January 2015

A boggy Beech Avenue played host to Altrincham Hale's 1st Round Broadheath Central Cup tie with Broadheath Central Reserves - Both teams struggled to adapt to the difficult conditions, resulting in most of the first half becoming a midfield battle with very little chances being created by either team. Broadheath's best chances fell to their right winger who twice unleashed a 30 yard snap shot which brought the best of out of Altrincham Hale goalkeeper Paul Grady.

Altrincham Hale's best chance fell to Steven Reid who somehow headed over from 5 inches out, after good link up play on Altrincham Hale's left wing resulted in a looped cross from Lewis Carthew.

After the break, Alty Hale moved up a gear and began creating chances, only to be denied of the opening goal by some wasteful finishing, Sam Manion being the culprit on more than one occasion.

The deadlock was finally broken after Altrincham Hale won the ball deep in Broadheath's half and Lewis Carthew remained calm in a one on one situation to slot home. After that goal the flood gates opened with Steven Reid (2) and Lewis Carthew adding their names to the scoresheet, Reid making up for his earlier miss with a clever back heeled volley to settle the tie.

Alty Hale : Grady, Drysdale, Page, Lamb, Black, Garner,  McEneaney, Reid, Manion S, Carthew, Yates.

Subs : Carlisle, Lea, Lewis.

Goals : Carthew (2), Reid (2).
