Our baby blackbird has been encoraged to forage in the garden for worms. Yesterday he was attached by a magpie. Instant intervention from a host of garden birds caused such a noise the mapie was checked for long enough for me to get outside and scare it completely away. Two wood pigeons, three adult black birds (no relation) and a handful of chaffinches and sparrows all came to the aid of a juvenile in distress. Now he will not go out unless I take him and stay with him...
