1.3.14  Gem was 3rd in the championship. Her 2nd in the last Nursery of the season earned a second in the Aggregate, which is rewarded by a lovely shepherd's crook. For many years the second in the aggregate was given a stick by trialist and stick maker Gordon Flintoft, now retired.

This one was made by one of Gordon's pupils. 

To cap all off, her half brother Chap won his second First at an open trial at Nova Lane on the sunday. Oddly enough, his score was again 83! His registration on merit came through this week, he has two wins and a fourth in open trials, which gives him fifteen points. Three wins would give him 18 points, the maximum required for entry into the English National trial this August; 15 may well be enough to qualify him!
