Uig sands

Great pictures of the sands can be found here and here. This is where the world famous Lewis chessmen were found hidden in a box beneath a sand-dune in 1831 by a shepherd.

The beach provides a timeless inspiration to many artists and photographers and is a major visitor attraction, with incredible white sands,  tropical shells borne by the warm North Atlantic drift current, and deep blue crystal clear waters. picnic on the uig sands?

As well as being great for picnics, Uig is also one of Scotland's leading kite-buggy locations, being large, flat, and frequently subject to suitable winds.
