BECKENHAM RETAIN 1066 WINNERS SHIELD..
Many congratulations to Beckenham men's seniors team, consisting of Ali Thorp, Jim Addison, Stuart Scott, Chris Lydon and Will Withecombe who retained the Trailguides 1066 Winners Shield with a winning time of 3 hrs 42.58 mins, winning the first two individual stages. However they were pushed all the way by newcomers Canterbury Harriers, who finished just 2 mins 40 secs behind in a time of 3 hrs 45.38 mins; with Petts Wood men's seniors a close 3rd in 3 hrs 49.31 mins.
Dulwich Runners Ladies won the women's trophy, coming 9th in 4 hrs 7.19 mins; whilst Dulwich Runners Ladies Vets won the women's vet trophy placing 16th in 4 hrs 24.05 mins. Serpentine RC's Team A won the mixed team award, coming 10th in a time of 4 hrs 12.07 mins.
Hastings AC won a close battle with local rivals Hastings Runners men's senior team by just 3 mins, coming 5th in a time of 3 hrs 55.13 mins to claim both the men's vets trophy and the 1066 trophy for first local team; Hastings Runners came 6th with a time of 3 hrs 58.02 mins.
For the second year running Icklesham Casuals FC came 8th to take the unaffiliated team trophy, with a time of 4 hrs 3.01 mins. The Minnesota Loons retained their Long Distance trophy, travelling 4100 miles to take part in the event ....their winning margin over joint runners up Farnham AC and Comets RC was a fraction over 4000 miles!
