ENTRIES NOW CLOSED AT 55 TEAMS!..
I am delighted to say that 55 teams will be taking part in Sunday's race, including last year's winners Beckenham RC, and other strong teams such as Dulwich Runners and Serpentine RC. Local rivalry for the 1066 Trophy will centre on Hastings AC, Hastings Runners and Icklesham Casuals FC; the latter look nailed on to land the unaffiliated team trophy which this year has 12 teams competing in this category. The Minnesota Loons, who have travelled 4100 miles from the USA to take part, are guaranteed winners of the long distance trophy for the second consecutive year!
The "going" is officially soft on most of the off-road sections, with the woodland areas being especially greasy and boggy in places. Off-road/trail shoes with excellent grip are recommended for Stages 2, 3 and 4 ... in fact you could easily wear fell shoes (but not spikes) for Stage 3 as the majority of this stage is off-road. Road shoes would be fine for Stages 1 and 5, which contain a higher percentage of lane and hard track and whose off-road sections drain better than the other stages.
